Synthetic Hockey Pitches

Hockey was one of the first sports to adopt synthetic surfaces and at any serious level both nationally and Internationally, Hockey’s sports governing body the FIH, insists that the sport has to be played on a synthetic surface that complies with its exacting standards.

Back

Unlike American Football, say, the ball in hockey is often in intimate rolling contact with the pile of the surface.

For hockey players any tendency for the ball to “bobble” along the surface is not acceptable. So for this sport, probably more than any other, the surface not only has to have the right playing and aesthetic qualities, but must be true and smooth.

The smoothness of the surface is controlled by the smoothness and consistency of the base that it is installed over.

Heydour’s laser controlled levels applied to the graded stone aggregate base, the asphalt layers and in situ installed shock pad guarantee that the playing surface itself will be smooth and consistent.

At the highest level of play pure textile pitches with irrigation are used.

Heydour offers PUR PP and PUR LSR, very high density, artificial turf surfaces. They are extremely stable, thanks to a built-in fibre-glass scrim.

Laid with glued seams and stretched over a high-performance elastomeric shockpad layer PUR PP and PUR LSR are officially approved by the International Hockey Federation for all levels of field hockey competition.
