Grass is seriously eroded in heavy use areas and the ground is almost permanently wet. Players want to play more and more games. What can be done?
Drainage
If the soil of a natural grass pitch drains well it tends to get warmer. This encourages growth and helps newly sown seeds to germinate. So the key to extending play in the wettest months is good drainage.
We at Heydour have been creating well drained pitches for many years and we can turn a poorly performing existing pitch into a first class facility by application of our considerable pitch construction know-how. |
Merely upgrading a poorly drained pitch or constructing an entirely new one will not necessarily resolve the
demands of intense use versus the requirements for sufficient recovery time between
periods
of use.
|
We therefore consider that it is essential for any proposed pitch upgrades or construction on green-field sites that the pitch is designed for realistic projected use intensity and that a comprehensive and effective maintenance programme is implemented.
